ROUTE #1
RING DISTANCE SAINT NICHOLAS
District Assenza / Porto - length 3.71 km
The first ring route runs between the northernmost hamlets of the municipality of Brenzone sul Garda, with many variants where you can walk in complete peace and enjoy the panorama of the island of Trimelone, much appreciated by kitesurfers and divers. Over the years, the hamlet of Assenza has become a famous tourist destination for its constant wind and the purity of its waters. It is no coincidence that it is home to the Acquafresca Sailing Club, which annually organizes top-level sailing events at an international level.
The itinerary can be started in Assenza di Brenzone, in the square of the Church of San Nicola, which is worth a visit before starting the hike and which gives its name to this north walking circuit. Recommended to find a parking space (paid) for those who want to continue the route of the Nordic Walking Park of Brenzone sul Garda and join the other NW rings. Plenty of safe public transport can be taken carefree in this way for the return.
Then you can set off towards the villages of Pozzo, Zignago and then Castello and Venzo. Castello is also the starting point of the famous annual Extreme Race Punta Veleno cycling race, which takes you to the mountain resort of Prada. From Castello the trail goes downhill to Porto with an incredible panorama of the lake. In Porto di Brenzone sul Garda, where our tourist and information office is located, this short loop ends at shore level. Alternatively, you can continue in the upper district of Castello with the NW Ring 2 "Madonna della Pace" and extend the tour.
The short return to Assenza runs along the lake shore via the new lake promenade with some of the most beautiful beaches in our municipality.
